A demonstration organised by Fight Against Animal Cruelty in Europe is being organised on the new Causeway at 10am.
Tony Moore, chairman of FAACE, said: "This arena blood sport should have been thrown into the dustbin of history years ago.
"Bookmakers are a big part of the scene at the Waterloo Cup. It is obscene to gamble on the life-and-death struggle of an animal."
The timetable for the event is: The first round of the Waterloo Cup is held on the Withens with first in slips at 9.30 am. The next day's coursing takes place at Lydiate, also in Great Altcar.
The finals of the Waterloo Cup, Purse and Plate take place on the Withens, on Thursday, February 26.
