Police trace final movements of fifth murdered prostitute
DETECTIVES aretrying to piece together the last movements of the latest prostitute found murdered near Ipswich - after some clothes were found in the town centre.
Police said Paula Clennell, 24, had chosen to plyher trade despite knowing thattwo other prostitutes were already dead.
She was seen walking in the red light district of Ipswichin the early hours of Sunday - less than 48 hours beforeher body was discovered five miles away in woods at Levington.
Five women have been found dead in villages near Ipswich in the past two weeks, and officers are urgently trying to trace any friends who might have seen Miss Clennell between 12.20am on Sundayand Tuesday.
Police said the body of the second woman found at Levington had been removed to ahospital in Ipswichlast night to allow Home Office pathologist Dr NatCary to carry out post-mortem tests.
A spokeswoman said clothing found in Bond Street were being examined but could not say if the discovery was significant or whether the clothes belonged to Miss Clennell.
Police had earlier launched a search for her clothes - ablue anorak, grey hooded top, light jeans with patterned pockets and Reebok trainers.
"We need to hear from any anyone who saw Paula or heard from her," said Det Chief Supt Stewart Gull, who is leading the hunt for the killer thought to be stalking prostitutes. "We also need to find her clothes.
Detectives think a second naked woman, whose body was found 150 metres from Miss Clennell's, is missing prostitute Annette Nicholls, 29. Her identity is expected to be confirmed today.
Gemma Adams, 25, was found in Belstead Brook at Hintlesham on December 2. Tania Nicol was found in the same stream at Copdockon December 8. Anneli Alderton, 24, was found in woods at Nacton on December 10. She had been strangled.
