Mr Shacklady, from Halewood, is understood to be self-employed and was carrying out the work on behalf of his firm, Tree Services.
In November last year, electrical engineer Ron Jordan, 60, suffered horrific injuries in an accident when he was crushed by a cherry picker in Wirral.
He died in hospital ten days later.
An inquest in June heard that he had been working on lights at a Wirral sports centre when he tried to adjust the lift's position.
But the highly respected community campaigner did not realise the switch, used to move the machine backwards and forwards as well as up and down, was still set for raising the platform.
He pushed the joystick and before he could turn it off it raised him up, crushing him against the light fitting.
