Sex pests ordeal of 13-year-old girl

NEWS that the main line station has been with-out cameras for so long was confirmed after the mother of a teenage assault victim contacted the ECHO.

The 13-year-old girl was attacked by a group of seven or eight sex pests on Saturday evening.

The gang of older teenage boys tried to drag her out of the station after she refused to kiss them and two of the thugs punched her in the head.

It was only when her friend screamed for help that the youths ran off towards the city centre.

Transport police officers took the girl out in their patrol car in the hope of finding the gang.

When the child's mother asked if there was CCTV footage that might have recorded the attack, she was told the station was no longer fitted with cameras.

The 13- year-old Widnes girl said: "They were shouting that they wanted to kiss me and I ignored them.

"Th ey s tar te d grabbing me and pulling my clothes and when I struggled they punched me hard in the head.

"I am terrified now and keep thinking they will find me and get me."

Her mother said: "It is an absolute scandal that there are no cameras in the station because they could help catch the monsters who did this."

The girl was attacked at just before 9.30 on Saturday night and if anyone can help with the investigation they should call 0800 405040.
