Penny's owner, Caroline Jones, 41, who runs the Awakenings Development Centre in Wallasey which offers traditional and holistic healing said: "It's an absolute miracle that Penny came away relatively unscathed.
"She was lucky that Mark is both a firefighter and a healer and knew exactly what to do."
Penny's luck held out when she was to taken to the Cranmore Veterinary Centre on New Chester Road because it was the day that a cranial expert was on site.
Several X-rays and a thorough examination revealed no broken bones or internal bleeding. Penny had nothing worse than a cut mouth, bruising and sore paws and has been given a course of painkillers.
Caroline's husband, David, 45, added: "Penny is a family dog and we were shocked when we heard of her accident. She is so lucky"
