Neville today told the ECHO he hopes the star-studded extravaganza, which will include a grand prize auction, will raise tens of thousands of pounds for the Disaster Emergency Committee.
Neville, originally from Huyton, said: "Merseyside is the heart and soul of the country's entertainment industry. Rather than make a donation, I wanted to reach as many
people as quickly as possible. As entertainers we can put out skills to use to raise money.
"It will be a fantastic night." The final line-up has yet to be confirmed, but Neville, who will play on the night with his swing band, expects to add several star names to the list in the next few days.
Tsunami survivor Tim Holden, 35, from Prenton, was travelling around the Andaman Islands, when the disaster struck. He said: "I support the charity concert. I was very lucky in about a dozen ways, especially to be where the earthquake, rather than the wave, hit."
John Halewood, owner of Halewood International, said: "As a local person I was pleased to offer the support of Halewood International to ensure as much money as possible goes directly to the cause.
