The event was supported by The Mersey Partnership, Wirral Farmers' Market, North West Fine Foods, brewers Cains and the local charitable organisation Wirral Lions who marshalled parking.
Good luck with the weather, which had threatened to overshadow the event, also helped contribute to its success with sunshine breaking through particularly in the afternoons.
One of the many stalls which was attracting the attention of visitors was that of Richard Alker, whose Little Green Men company specialises in growing chillies.
He had brought one of the world's hottest chillies, a Jolokai Naga, for the brave to try, although those more protective of their taste buds could enjoy the traditional sloe gins and strawberry vodkas of My Gineration from Mollington near
Chester. Those with a sweet tooth could enjoy the products of the Birkenhead-based Chocolate Cellar. Among the many hits of the event was the beer made by award winning Wirral-based brewer Mike McGuigan whose Sunlight beer was voted the best of the festival.
Mr McGuigan whose Betwixt Beer company is based in New Ferry said it had been "very gratifying" for his beer to be voted the best over the two days.
He said: "I'm very happy. It's been a mad couple of days, and we didn't know how many people would come - but everyone seems to have been here. And winning the Beer of the Festival award is fantastic."
