Mr Wilmer says he filed an application to see his son in April but does not yet have a date for a court hearing.
"David Blunkett gets his access case heard by the high court in two weeks," he said.
"Why should the law treat him any differently than other fathers?"
Mr Wilmer added: "I am here because I want my son to see me and know that I love him.
"All we want is to see our children this Christmas."
