A COLONY of penguins took root on New Brighton beach as part of a campaign inspired by Antony Gormley’s Iron Men.
The piece, Not Another Place – as opposed to the official title of Gormley’s work on Crosby beach, Another Place – was installed for a day to announce that the Environment Agency has partnered up with the Go Penguins project, that will see more than 200 models of the flightless birds installed across Merseyside to celebrate Liverpool’s Year of the Environment.
The agency has commissioned three penguins who will be placed around Liverpool city centre, designed to raise awareness of key environmental issues affecting the people of Merseyside.
