The man for whom 'near enough' was never good enough
WILLIAM BIRCHALL was a hard-working man whose main concern was safety, his family said last night.
His son, mechanical craftsman Stephen, 37, told the Daily Post: "He was always safety conscious. He had a saying that 'near enough wasn't good enough'.
"As a tribute, his workmates at Pleasureland have built a stainless steel bird table under the Traumatizer ride, bearing that inscription.
"He enjoyed working there. He was well-respected, and people knew he was always there to help."
Mr Birchall, who enjoyed model making and caravanning, had worked as an engineer.
