CHILDREN are laughing their way through their lessons.

And their behaviour has received approval from teachers.

An initiative is under way at Bedford Primary school in Bootle to help youngsters beat the stress of exams.

With only days to go before the Sats exams begin, laughter clinics are being held at the Quarry Road school.

Liverpool Comedy Trust is involved in the initiative which involves both staff and pupils.

Deputy head Ruth Braithwaite said: "We are always looking for opportunities to improve the health and well-being of our pupils and we think the laughter clinic is a really innovative way of preparing our children for the year six exams.

"Exam time is very stressful for both pupils and teachers and we believe the clinic is an excellent form of stress relief in this period of anxiety."
