Eviction warning on Asbo son visits

Jun 12 2006

Daily Post

A WOMAN from Wirral has been threatened with eviction if her son visits her home.

Winifred Mills, 77, a grandmother, from Woodchurch, was told she faced eviction after a court was heard she encouraged her son to breach his Asbo.

The action was brought by Wirral Council's Anti-Social Behaviour Team against Mrs Mills of Home Farm Close, Woodchurch, on behalf of landlord Wirral Partnership Homes.

Mrs Mills' son, Michael Mills, 37, was made subject to a three year Anti-Social Behaviour Order in March 2003 for swearing, shouting, being abusive and throwing objects.

The order had also banned him from entering the Woodchurch estate where his mother lives. Liverpool County Court was told he breached the Asbo a number of times and his visits to his moth-er's home were not only allowed by his mother but also encouraged.

After a two-day hearing at Liverpool County Court Mrs Mills was issued with a two-year eviction order, suspended on condition that she does not invite her son to her home or permit him to enter it.

Michael Mills gave a legal undertaking not to enter an area surrounding Home Farm Close.

After the hearing, Caroline Laing, Manager of Wirral's Anti-Social Behaviour Team said: "The needs and rights of the community must outweigh the rights of the individuals concerned."

The Order will remain in force until June 6, 2008.
