A MERSEYSIDE family doctor was facing years behind bars today after a jury convicted him of sexually abusing 23 women.
Roy Murray, 62, of Grosefield Avenue, Bromborough, was today found guilty of indecently assaulting four of his patients while he worked at Liverpool Road surgery in St Helens.
Murray, (pictured), who retired from full-time practice in April 2002, was last Friday found guilty of 19 indecent assaults.
The jury cleared him of two charges and was today discharged from reaching verdicts in relation to five counts.
Murray's nine-week trial heard how he preyed on women by performing unnecessary internal and breast examinations.
His victims told the jury he took a long time to complete internals and showed signs that he was getting sexual pleasure.
Among his victims was a family of four sisters, who complained about his lewd behaviour.
One woman said Murray's conduct during an intimate examination was similar to sexual foreplay.
A 30-year-old pharmacist said Murray leaned over her while she was half naked on his surgery bed and asked for a kiss immediately after carrying out an internal examination.
Today, Murray did not flinch as the final verdicts were read out.
He was bailed until September 17 for sentence and was told to sign the sex offenders' register.
