Peter Grant takes a look inside the magical, mystical world of Macca on his round the world tour
WHAT is it really like on the road with Sir Paul McCartney? Maybe the only way to find out is to ask the man himself.
On November 4, Paul puts himself 'on the record' with a very personal book, featuring these intimate photographs, called Each One Believing: On Stage, Off Stage And Backstage.
It's a reflective celebration of life on the road during his recent Word Tour in which he played to more than two million people.
Among those in his audiences were Hollywood stars like Jack Nicholson and political giants like Russian president Vladimir Putin.
It was Sir Paul's most successful tour since The Beatles last took to the road. And it ended in his beloved Liverpool with a home-coming gig and party at the Kings Dock.
At the start of the tour, it was Macca who came up with the concept of creating a book that would reflect some of the energy and excitement of being on the road.
He wanted to explain just what drives a musician to perform.
He also wanted to show what goes on behind-the-scenes; how his band prepare for a gig; and what it actually feels like just before going on stage.
The book also answers such questions as who qualifies for the elite VIP 'access all areas passes' or the megahardto-get-hold-of VVVIP pass.
Says Paul's spokesman: "It takes you behind the scenes of a major music tour and into an exhilarating world. Poignant, candid, hilarious and illuminating by turns.
"It is a road trip unlike any other." Paul actually played 91 concerts in 16 countries featuring Beatle and Wings songs plus his own material.
