THREE Fathers 4 Justice campaigners today scaled the Radio City tower to stage a protest.
They climbed outside on to the roof of the 450ft tower and unveiled banners before changing into Santa Claus, Batman and Robin outfits.
One passer-by said: "It's madness - not only are they risking their own lives but they are also putting the people who will have to try and get them to safety in danger."
Five F4J protesters got into the building, above St John's shopping centre, this morning while pretending to be window cleaners.
After reaching the top of the 450ft tower they got up on to the roof and chained the fire escape door.
The men say they are protesting at what they see as the "preferential" treatment given to home secretary David Blunkett, currently fighting for access of his son.
They claim they have enough provisions to spend a week on the tower's roof.
Liverpool F4J co-ordinator, Rory Wilmer, from New Brighton, said: "We have supplies to last a week and we are determined to make our case."
A spokesman for Merseyside police said trained negotiators were on their way to the tower. She added that officers were monitoring the situation and assessing any potential danger to the men or those working underneath them.
