THE Liverpool ECHO has linked up with Merseyside's biggest showbiz stars to stage a gala concert to benefit the victims of the Asian tsunami.
A host of celebrities has already added their names to the star-studded variety night line-up.
The cream of the region's entertainment talent will perform at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall on Friday, February 11.
The Liverpool ECHO Tsunami Gala Concert aims to raise more than £50,000 towards rebuilding devastated lives in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Thailand and Indonesia.
It is being organised by the ECHO and swing musician Neville Skelly. Drinks company Halewood International has sponsored the event to the tune of £5,000.
Performers already signed up include Gerry Marsden, Pete Wylie, Alan Bleasdale, plus actors Mark Moraghan and Louis Emerick. Many more stars are expected to join the line-up in the next few days.
Today survivors of the disaster lent their backing to the charity gig.
And showbiz legend Gerry Marsden said: "We Liverpudlians are proud of our generosity. We want to show the thousands of tsunami victims that they will never walk alone."
Tsunami survivor Steve English, 52, from Walton, is one of the Merseyside holidaymakers known to have escaped the killer wave.
Mr English, who was staying in the Sri Lankan resort of Negombo with wife Barbara when the wave hit, said: "The people of Merseyside need to help whichever way they can.
"Everyone should get to the Philharmonic and support the relief effort. I know I will be. The people have nothing to start again with. They do not want material things, they simply want enough to eat.
"It is down to Merseyside to help give these people a future."
The two-and-a-half-hour show is the brainchild of local musician and entertainer Neville Skelly, 29.
