THREE British beauties have helped raise £6,000 for the victims of the tsunami after one of their friends was caught up in the disaster.
Danielle Lloyd, Amy Guy and Lois Weatherup - Miss England, Miss Wales and Miss Scotland - teamed up for a charity event in Liverpool.
They wanted to do their bit because weeks before the tsunami struck they had met and become friends with beauty queens from countries that were soon to be hit by the disaster.
Despite repeated attempts, none of them has been able to get in touch with Anarkalli Jay - Miss Sri Lanka - and all wanted to help raise money for the victims.
The money raised will help fund a school in Galle, in Sri Lanka, and pay for a group of Sri Lankan students enrolled on courses at Liverpool Hope University College to go back to their country to help counsel the bereaved and work with orphans.
Danielle, 21, from South Mossley Hill Road, Aigburth, said: "I got along really well with Miss Sri Lanka. I just hope she's safe and well.
"This money will go directly to a school. It's a good cause."
Amy, 22, who is also Miss UK, said: "When you know someone who is involved it makes it that more important."
On Saturday the girls hosted a charity night at the Marriott hotel in Speke.
Items including a signed pair of Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan's boxing gloves were auctioned, while a raffle was also held and guests were able to pay to have their photographs taken with the beauty queens.
