A MAKESHIFT shrine has sprung up in Liverpool - in memory of a dead chicken.
Bouquets of flowers, teddy bears and handwritten cards have been laid outside an angling store in Anfield's Oakfield Road by people who believe a baby's body was found there.
Rumours have been circulating in Anfield since last Wednesday when police cordoned off the area after reports of a dead baby being found dumped in a bin bag.
The confusion began last Tuesday when a woman telephoned police to report the discovery of a baby's body.
Paramedics could not identify the body and neither could the attending police doctor, who stud-ied the foetus left outside Anfield Tackle.
The corpse was taken to a nearby hospital where it was later identified by medical staff as a chicken.
Later editions of Wednesday's ECHO reported that the body was that of a chicken, but rumours persist in Anfield schools, pubs and in taxis that it was a baby dumped by its mother.
Locals have laid tributes to the "baby", and have left supportive messages for the supposed mother.
