Pupils raise £1,000 through Santa dash

Jan 13 2006

Liverpool Echo

STUDENTS swapped school uniform for Santa suits to raise money for charity.

Pupils at Alsop High school, Walton, joined their teachers in the Santa Dash in aid of the ECHO Sunrise Fund.

Through sponsorship and donations on own clothes day, almost £1,000 was collected.

Taking part in the Santa Dash was the idea of PE teacher Steven Griffin.

He said: "About 20 members of staff took part and quite a few pupils.

"The kids really enjoyed it and next year there should be even more of us taking part."

Handing their cheque to Sunrise Fund coordinator Penny Woods are pupil Peter Kennedy, Mr Griffin and pupil Vicky Giggs.

* SEND your donations to the Sunrise Fund; Liverpool Echo, PO Box 48, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L69 3EB or simply contact the ECHO Sunrise Fund coordinator, Penny Woods, on 0151-227 2000 and we'll tell you how we can help your Sunrise event, no matter how small.
