A DISTRAUGHT cat owner has employed the services of TV clairvoyant Derek Acorah in a bid to find his missing pet.
Smokie the cat went missing from home on Christmas Eve and the five-year-old Russian Blue has not been seen since.
Despite owner Peter Crompton, from Southport, setting up a "strategic operations room" and planning the search like a "military campaign", the cat has not been found.
He has posted 1,000 flyers through the doors of villagers and plastered posters on every lampost but his beloved cat has remained elusive.
The electrical engineer, who has two other cats, also put up a substantial reward but even that failed to get Smokie back.
So Mr Crompton, 36, decided a more paranormal approach was needed.
He has drafted in three different psychics in the search for his feline friend, and the part-time poet and photographer reckons it is money well spent.
He said: "I'm prepared to embrace any philosophy if it re-unites me with Smokie.
"I believe there is an unexplored part of everyone's brain that mediums may be able to tap into.
"Cats, like people give off energy and some people can feel that more than others.
