But when the ECHO asked for the right to identify the girl for the safety of her community, magistrates at a Bootle court ruled she was not a "persistent offender."
South Sefton magistrates heard the girl took the ball-bearing gun to her school with two friends last September 26.
They claimed they were cutting through the school grounds with the gun to shoot at fizzy drink cans in a nearby woods.
Georgina Leigh, prosecuting, said the three stopped to show the gun to a male pupil at the school and then moved on.
But when the teaching assistant asked them to leave, they stopped and one pointed the weapon at her. The gun was then fired at cars parked nearby.
