IN THE genteel and cosy environment of local sport, it is simply not cricket.

League officials were bowled over when 100-year-old club Southport Trinity signed up a kinky sex shop as shirt sponsor.

They warned the cricket side would be run out of the competition if the deal was not ditched.

Liverpool district cricket league chairman Malcolm Barker today said he was stumped as to why a club with four junior sides would team up with a sex shop.

Trinity is holding an emergency meeting to decide whether to bail out of the deal and save their league

spot. They planned to take the field with shirts bearing the logo of Chester-based Nice'n'Naughty, which sells hardcore videos, fetish wear and sex toys in its Southport and Liverpool stores.

The club website has links to the online store and includes:

* A recommendation from club officials

* A request for members to provide custom

* Directions to the shop's DVD department

* A 10% discount for club members.
