A TOT with a rare medical condition spurred staff from the Liverpool ECHO to swop the paper for the pitch for a charity football tournament.

One year-old Alex Ava Morley, from Knowsley, suffers from frontal plagiocephaly, a condition in which a baby's head becomes flattened at the front.

The youngster will undergo an operation to correct the condition in June at Alder Hey children's hospital.

Alex's family are so grateful for the help of hospital staff and cranial specialist Mr Paul May, that they decided to raise money for Alder Hey.

Five male teams - including a team of under 16s - and one female football team, took on the challenge.

The three-hour five-a-side event took place at Powerleague, Kirkdale, who donated the pitches for free.
