Evidence shows up to 50% of nursing home residents who are moved die within a relatively short space of time - a frightening statistic for Ms Taylor and her fellow campaigners.
Sue Navarro, whose mother Eileen Morrison, 77, is also in Kelton Grange, said: "Our greatest worry is that this will kill some of them. Nobody wants to put their parents in a home, but sometimes you just can't give them what they need and you have to.
"You search high and low to find the place that is right for them.
"It becomes their home and the carers become their friends. They are too old to have the will to start all over again somewhere else.
"We had a meeting with Nugent Care in March and they told us Kelton wouldn't close, and now this, out of the blue."
But last night, the Liverpool Care Homes Association warned that care home closures should not come as any surprise.
