MOTORISTS in Liverpool city centre who have been prosecuted for driving along a bus lane which they claim is not clearly marked are today being urged to appeal against their tickets.

Changes to the roads in Renshaw Street and Lime Street have left dozens of drivers confused.

And as a result many have been issued with £30 on the spot fines.

Today, Cllr Nick Small, Labour councillor for the area, said motorists who have been issued with tickets should appeal.

He said: "I would like to encourage motorists to appeal and will support them in this process.

"I have been made aware of other drivers who have been left confused as a result of the change in the road system.

"The signs are not adequate, I have seen them myself and it is unfair that tickets should be issued in this way."

One motorist, a 40 year old businesswoman from Aigburth, who did not want to be named, said: "I received a ticket just after 8.30am on a Saturday morning.
