Mark Chung escaped from jail

A LIVERPOOL drug smuggler has escaped from prison in a refuse lorry.

A nationwide search is under way for Mark Chung, 31, jailed after he hurled a milk carton stuffed with heroin, cannabis, crack cocaine and a mobile phone over the wall of Walton jail.

Chung, of Roseberry Street, Toxteth, was serving seven years for drug supply at Ranby, a category C prison in Retford, Notts.

At 11am yesterday, he was spotted jumping out of the lorry as it pulled into an industrial estate in Worksop.

He ran off towards the town’s football ground.

Police have issued an all-ports alert for Chung, but inquiries are focussing on Liverpool, where he has family and underworld contacts.

Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him.

Det Insp Dave Sinclair, of Nottinghamshire police, said: “Chung is probably extremely dirty and may look dishevelled and wet due to hiding in the waste lorry.”
