Nikkita still petrified of dogs after attack

LITTLE Nikkita Douglas is too scared to go to the park after a horrific attack by a pit bull terrier six weeks ago.

The nine-year-old suffered terrible leg wounds when she was savaged near her Norris Green home at the end of May and is still receiving regular hospital treatment.

The promising Everton FC girls' footballer is now "petrified" of dogs and will not even walk through her local park, according to her grandmother Nora Kelly.

Mrs Kelly, of Winskill Road, said: "Before it happened, we used to cut through Norris Green park on the way to school.

"Now Nikkita will not go that way in case we run into a dog, even if it is with someone.

"She has played out on the path, but she will not play in the street.

"She is petrified of dogs. A friend's dog across the road has just had pups, and although she would look at them, she would not hold them - and they were just 10 days old."
