IN the year when the city celebrates its 800th birthday and is busy preparing events for Capital of Culture, it is astonishing to see in the ECHO, the newspaper that for years has been doing its best to project an up-beat image of Liverpool to the outside world, one of its columnists saying that he is ashamed of this city (Laurence Westgaph, Oct 15). more

ONE of the major problems with the whole immigration issue is that as soon as someone mentions there is a problem, they are immediately thought of as a racist, or at least, that they are approaching the issue from the point of "race" or "religion". more
