* AM I alone in noticing how magnificent the Three Graces appear when viewed from Salthouse Dock, facing north? I think not, because this view has become the classic picture postcard scene.

The proposed Fourth Grace will completely obliterate this view and detract from the existing architecture which justifies World Heritage status.

A building of such radical appearance would be a welcome addition to the Liverpool skyline. But surely it is a case of location.

Steve Cox,
Sefton Park

* THERE is something lying in the grass on the traffic island on Speke Boulevard. It could be an alien spaceship. If so, the local authorities are slow to react.

Local opinion says it is a spare part of the Mersey Wave and they ordered too many spikes. The graffiti artists have already designated it as a prime target. A second monstrosity is also occupying a second traffic island nearer the airport. It looks like a propeller from the Titanic.

Please, if we are to be inflicted with these "works of art", could they at least be painted?

Name and address supplied

* ARE people taking advantage of animals? Over the past few years more and more animals have become endangered. People are killing animals for meat and clothes too much. However, this is really bad for humans.

Some animals are carrying a disease. By cutting down on meat, we may save lots of lives, both humans and animals.

Amy Mizrahi, aged 11,
West Derby.

* ANYONE naive enough to vote in favour of a north west assembly should remember Friday's ECHO showing two major players working for it to happen, Derek Militant Hatton and John ("Mr Manchester") Prescott. Tony H Wilson can't be far behind.

Who really wants decisions for Liverpool and Merseyside made in Manchester.

Gerry Jones,
Broadgreen

* I WOULD like to thank the kind person who found my bus pass in James Street last Sunday night and posted it to me.

Mr G Rowan,
Liverpool 28
