* ON October 27, 1859 the ship Royal Charter homeward bound from Australia to Liverpool was wrecked on the rocks at the village of Moelfre, Anglesey.

Over 400 crew/passengers were drowned but 40 were saved, due to one crewman swimming ashore with a rope. The hero was Maltese crewman Joseph Rodgers.

He is buried at Ford Cemetery, Merseyside. Why was he buried there? What was the Liverpool connection?

Please contact me if you know.

R. D. Evans,
6 Awel-y-Mor, Llandudno Road, Rhos on Sea, North Wales LL28 4BD

* THROUGH the ECHO I would like to thank the young man on the Runcorn 61 bus at Queens Drive on February 4 for getting off the bus to help me after falling running for the bus.

Also the lady who gave me a packet of tissues as my nose was bleeding.

E. M. Huyton,
Liverpool L36

* I LISTENED to Tom Slemen, the author of the popular Haunted Liverpool books, talking about the paranormal, with Pete Price.

The television was off, as my wife, sons and daughter listened. It was the first time our family had sat together around a radio.

I do wish Tom Slemen was on our radio more often though, instead of the irritable chatty DJs.

Michael Gibbons,
Clubmoor

* MY DAD, George, died in October 2003. Whilst sorting out his belongings, we couldn't find his photo album from when he was in the Royal Navy.

The album contained pictures of him in his uniform, his shipmates, and ships he had sailed on. We can only think he must have lent it to someone or lost it.

I would be grateful if someone can help us find it as it has great sentimental value.

Lesley Roberts,
Anglesey. Tel: 01248 410225

* WOULD the driver of the car who was involved in an accident with a man on Derby Lane, Liverpool 13, by the old fire station, on Monday morning, February 2, call 0151-475 3677. Also I would like anyone who witnessed the accident to contact me. The car was a dark Ford Escort.

Mrs D. Rose,
Old Swan, Liverpool L13
