This land should have been landscaped and trees planted to become riverside parkland for city workers and visitors instead of becoming a concrete jungle for profiteering developers. These monoliths will surely damage the credibility of the site being classed as World Heritage. T Martin, Liverpool 12 * WE are making an appeal on behalf of our abandoned cats in need of a Christmas dinner and toy here at the Boote Home for Cats. We have more than 40 cats, including kittens, with more kittens expected in the near future. Sponsors would also be welcome for our elderly long term residents who have health problems and cannot be re-homed. Donations should be addressed to the undersigned and all will be acknowledged. The Chairman, Boote Home for Cats, 2 Elm Vale, Liverpool L6 8NX. Jeffrey M Lenehan, chairman, Boote Home for Cats * COULD anyone please advise me if it is possible to obtain a copy of Jimmy McGovern's Hillsborough video? My daughter, who wasn't even born at the time of the disaster, is a Liverpool FC fanatic and is really interested in this subject. Susan Scanlon, L18, susan@cdp.co.uk * SHOPPING in the city centre at the weekend I couldn't help but notice what a complete mess Church Street is with all the road works going on. But after a few tut tuts I remembered that it will all be worth it in the end when our city becomes a top shopping destination. It's easy to knock things, as I discovered, so I urge readers to think about the positive outcome and remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. J Davies, Wavertree * RE: the article (Nov 11) about Merseytravel charging for replacement travel passes, the comment from the Merseytravel spokesman made me laugh. It stated it is important we are as efficient as possible with the money we have. By putting glass in our bus stops, Merseytravel costs the council tax payers of millions of pounds to replace smashed glass panels. A concerned Liverpool resident (full name and address supplied) * SURELY Peel Holdings has enough "brownfield" sites around Salford to build a waste incinerator? Cheshire and Merseyside don't need this muck. J Brody, L4
