Shortpoints DO you have a letter for Shortpoints? Why not use the special Shortpoints messageboard by clicking here? Remember to include your name and address * WHEN will people who choose to live in Wirral and choose to work in Liverpool stop moaning about the tunnel tolls? Unless they are the one person in the world who can do their job - either find one over their side of the water or stop whingeing. On an island in the inner Hebrides, people working in the nearest large town have to pay £5.70 per car and £1 per passenger ferry fare to get to work each day. They would be happy to pay only our tunnel tolls. V. Pearson, Old Swan * REGARDING ECHO Letters (Nov 3): I am writing to thank Peter Caradine for his kind comments regarding the show Twopence To Cross The Mersey and to point out one small, but significant, error. He referred to the music as being provided by 'backing track'. The music was, in fact, played live by a nine-piece band. Don't worry, Pete. The band took it as a compliment! Glad you enjoyed the show. Rob Fennah, producer, Two-pence To Cross The Mersey * NEVER mind a giant Liver bird, let's have a real monument to a giant of a man - namely Noel Chavasse who was awarded two VCs. We could also have other monuments to famous people who shaped this city and moved it forward, years ahead of other UK cities. Name & address supplied * I WOULD like to ask who are these planning committee people who are continually rejecting prestigious building developments in this city? I am sure, judging from the letters to the ECHO, that the majority of Liverpool people would like to have answers. F. T. F., L25 (full name supplied) * REGARDING the article by Paddy Shennan (ECHO, Nov 1) about the Scouse Test: Question 5 - which of the following is not a Scouser? Ken Dodd, Paul O'Grady, Billy Butler. ] Your answer was Paul O'Grady. But I am led to believe that Billy Butler was born in North Wales. H. Phillips, Kirkby * I AM against the moving of Alder Hey children's hospital. My life was saved by Alder Hey when I had meningitis in 1959 when I was nine. I am now 55. I have also taken my own child to Alder Hey and do not want the hospital to move. It has given good service to the people of Liverpool. Graham Lloyd, Aintree * I BELIEVE Alder Hey must stay in Liverpool and be allowed to build, responsibly, on Springfield Park. It is unthinkable to move it. B. H. Owen, Litherland
