I, LIKE B H from West Derby (ECHO, Nov 10) was disgusted by the NHS spending £5m on art.
I read the letter the day after surgery for breast cancer. I have to say the nursing care and the consultant are wonderful and I cannot fault their care. However, the time I have had to wait for results is unacceptable.
After enquiring why, I am told it is lack of available funding to employ qualified people to do the histology.
As I am relatively young at 44 to have breast cancer I needed a quick diagnosis to cause me less stress.
I now have to wait until Nov 25 until I get the results from my operation to determine whether I need further surgery, chemo and radiotherapy.
I have a friend who can afford to pay for her treatment and she had results the next day.
I would rather look at a picture drawn by my nursery children and have the money spent on more lab staff than look at some expensive painting and have to wait weeks for crucial life-saving results.

Oliver's bad taste
I WISH to express my anger and absolute disgust at Jamie Oliver's decision to slaughter a lamb on television.
Previously, I have always admired Jamie Oliver. I was impressed by his work to improve school dinners, and by his decision to set up a training scheme by which unemployed youngsters may enter the culinary profession. My view of him was as a responsible, caring young man sensitive to the needs of others.
Needless to say, that view has radically changed recently. I am well aware that animals are slaughtered daily for food. However, I do not think they should be slaughtered on prime time television for so called 'entertainment' value!! Jamie Oliver is a chef not a slaughterman.
I have been a committed vegetarian for the past 25 years and an animal lover all of my life.
