Shortpoints DO you have a letter for Shortpoints? Why not use the special Shortpoints messageboard by clicking here? Remember to include your name and address * I WOULD like to congratulate the children and teachers of St Margaret Mary and Holy Cross schools for their interest in the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph on Friday, November 11. It was very emotional to hear them singing the songs that the Tommies sang in the Great War, it brought tears to my eyes, especially when they laid poppy wreaths down. At least these young children have been taught what it is all about. R. A. Walton * I WOULD like to urge any ECHO readers lucky enough to get a place in next year's Flora London Marathon to consider running it for Marie Curie Cancer Care's Daffodil Team Runners will soon be finding out if they have a place in the race. If you do why not run for Marie Curie? To find out more call me on 0151-801 1412. Antony Jones, community fundraising co-ordinator * IN reply to Karen Pinnington's letter (ECHO Letters, November 16) regarding Jamie Oliver slaughtering a lamb on television. I do sympathise with her, and I am not a big fan of Jamie, or any other cooks who eat anything that moves. However, I must say I do admire him in a way - at least he has the courage of his convictions. I too am a vegetarian, but if people want to eat meat then they must be prepared to kill an animal themselves - or not eat it. Anne Graham, L12 * WHY is the council spending £300 for a litter bin? In Malta they use oil drums which cost nothing. Still, it's only council tax payers' money. D. Whitby, L13 * I WISH to thank the person who found my bus pass on the 15 bus on Wednesday, November 9, which I received back two days later! Mrs M. Thornton, L12 * I RECENTLY had a letter published in the ECHO and I feel the need to set the record straight. The headline for Emma Tweedles response letter (ECHO, November 12) stated that I was a 'selfish smoker'. I stated that I was a non-smoker, so I don't smoke and never have. I too, have lost a member of my family due to smoking, I too have seen the devastation smoking causes. I don't think that I have a selfish attitude, I believe that the likes of Emma Tweedles are selfish for moaning about smokey places when she can go to other non-smoking venues.
