"The actual version of events they have described are just as the court ruled - except it was Sankey who injured Martin Georgiev.
"One of the blokes said he hasn't come forward sooner because he never thought they'd lock up an innocent lad.
"I think he was also quite scared about being caught up in the middle of things and concerned he would look bad for not speaking earlier."
Michael's uncle Joey Grainey, who helps run the Justice for Michael campaign, said: "It's a case of better late than never.
"We're glad these blokes have come forward because it could be the break we need. I can only hope they are listened to by the appeal court."
