POLITICAL and religious leaders, human rights campaigners, footballers and celebrities have spoken of their joy and relief at the release of jailed Reds’ fan Michael Shields.
City council leader Cllr Warren Bradley, Lord Mayor Cllr Mike Storey and Labour Riverside MP Louise Ellman were among the first to speak of their delight at the news.
They said they were relieved that Michael would no longer suffer the “gross miscarriage of justice” to which he had been subjected over the last four years.
