MICHAEL Shields has written an emotional letter to the people of Liverpool from his Bulgarian prison cell.
The teenager speaks of his pride in being a Scouser and thanks the thousands of people who have offered their support.
But he also condemned the man who has admitted carrying out the brutal attack for not being prepared to take the punishment.
In his letter, sent to the ECHO, the 19-year-old says: "I have never been so proud than I am now to say and shout the name of my city. Only the people of Liverpool could have shown such support which is what is keeping me going.
