Thank goodness these boards are going, its a long time since there was a decent and sensible debate on either post/shortpoints, it appears all the characters visiting now just pretend to be each other (IJR,Otto etc)and slag each other off, hence the reason I and others dont visit anymore! well done ECHO!

Tockylad - There is a Jaqueline Lucas who is a writer and poet.I don't know if she is the object of your obsession. The 'girl' will be about 45 years of age now, unless she's related to Peter Pan!

tocklad from liverpool 11:48:38 23 April 2007

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 14:23:54 22 April 2007
John Rowland, I bought the CD of 'Buena Vista Social Club'. Ibrahim Ferrer is brilliant. I have it on all the time in my car. You can't believe that 'Brasil Bush' considered this gentle old man was considered a security risk to the USA. Or, was it because he was to receive a major USA music award?

John Rowlands from Liverpool L8 17:33:12 20 April 2007
Well said Joe- he wasn't good at researching Rio either!!!

Tockylad, a good few years ago I was conducting an interview with a young lad for a Pre-Sentence Report (I am a Probation and Parole Officer) and I asked him how long ago had he left Liverpool. His accent was strong. He told me that he was born here and lives in a big extended Scouse community in Two Rocks. Not everything worth knowing is googleable you know, otherwise that would make us gullible.

Tockylad from Scouseland - try Jacqueline.

Joe Kelsall from Global City of Liverpool 16:38:42 19 April 2007
Tockylad - Not much good at research are you? I found 'Two Rocks'... No Probs. It is a suburb of Clarkson 50km from Perth near to Yanchep. Great holiday apartments to let at bargain prices. No wonder you had to leave Liverpool for a job!

Jules from Liverpool 16:18:22 19 April 2007
Tockylad - you've got the spelling of her name wrong its Jacqueline Lucas so try searching under that or try a website for Willy Russell. Let me know how you get on would be intrigued to know. Good luck!

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 21:04:04 18 April 2007
Steve, I may have some relatives near Two Rocks - they live in a place called Wundowie. Same surname, if you ever come across them please don't disturb! Distance makes the heart grow fonder!

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 17:05:10 18 April 2007
Steve - Was it you and your family crossing Lodge Lane with a huge roll of carpet? They looked like ants taking away a twig!

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 12:31:18 18 April 2007
Tockylad - There's always work for willing hands - even after you've packed it in!

Steve Jenkins 02:02:39 18 April 2007
Hey Tockylad, you could move to a little place called Two Rocks about and hours' drive north of Perth. A big contingent of Scousers moved there years ago because the land prices were so low. Even the kids speak with Scouse accents and they were mostly born here.

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 21:03:02 17 April 2007
Steve - I never saw any police at all on the night in question. There was a bobby's joke going about at the time of a young constable who, having retreated some distance took shelter in a shop doorway. He saw another policeman there and said ' Blimey Sarge it's dangerous out there'. A voice replied 'I'm not a Sarge, I'm an inspector' - To which the constable replied 'Jesus, I didn't think I'd run back that far!' I saw a press photographer have all of his cameras taken at Lodge/Smithdown. The local hackneys didn't do too bad either -You'd think they had 'Luton' cabs! And, the ladies of the night whose trade had been affected were offering group discounts to fire crews! I don't know if they have insurance for loss of trade. Councillor Swainbank said' They've burnt everything, everything! Funnily enough, the only thing they haven't touched are the pubs and the Dept of Health and Social Security!' They never touched the Greek Church either or they would have had a battle on their hands!!

Steve Jenkins from Perth, Western Australia 05:29:04 17 April 2007
Aye Joe, an interesting night...I remember the paint cans shooting off like rockets from the painting and decorating shop on Lodge Lane and the guy I saw collapsed under a fridge that he was trying to steal from one of the other shops. I used to do court duty as a Probation Officer in those days and I bumped into several of my neighbours from the Earle Road area in Court in the few weeks afterwards, mostly charged with looting...interestingly enough I never saw any of the Allerton Range Rover brigade who systematically looted Tescos on the corner of Smithdown Road and Lodge Lane that night. When I pointed it out to one of the police inspectors on the street he couldn't care less.

tockylad from scouseland 17:58:11 16 April 2007
well mate there was alot of anger and fear that dreaded night the police were pushing things too much and i still feel they are openly abusing young black scouse men

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 14:43:33 14 April 2007
Tockylad - where are you? The Rialto was demolished after the riots and now houses a row of modern shops, etc. I used to think that the Rialto was full of old junk but according to owner Councillor Swainbank it was full of 'priceless antiques'! The night it burned down was the first time police used shot guns on mainland UK. This forced the rioters down to Lodge Lane which was like 'the valley of the shadow of death!' I was there with Dr John Allen and the Broadgreen Accident Flying Squad. This was just before the formation of Ambulance Paramedics. A night to remember!

tockylad from scouseland 18:38:14 12 April 2007
can anyone tell me what became of the rialto after it was burned downin 1981 .i mean was it rebuilt ?

Joe Kelsall from Liverpool 15:02:32 12 April 2007
Lurker - Maybe you'd like to point us in the right direction?

John Rowlands from Liverpool L8 12:09:04 12 April 2007
The last posting under 'John Rowlands' about Birmingham, Alabama, was not posted by me. I'll assume there is another John Rowlands for now (it is possible). I am the original married to the Brazilian woman (I put 'Liverpool L8), not just 'Liverpool', to differentiate. If that person starts posting 'Liverpool L8' then I give up!!

J.R. -Apologies for posting in your name. The computer has it stored in my name line along with my own. I'm not sure how to get rid of it.
