Hats off the the Duke of York with proposed celebratory party to remember his pals from the Falkland Islands War. It makes you proud to be British, and proud to have such an outstanding family as heads of state.

Ron Ipstone from Conway 10:53:28 27 April 2007
Of all the venerable institutions which this country possesses, my top three for abolition on the grounds that they have passed their respective usefulnesses, are in first place the NHS, second the railways and third the BBC. The NHS belongs to the pre-war generation of rickets etc, the railways belongs to the 19 th century not the 21st, and the BBC belongs to a communist state. Things from the past that should be brought back are hanging and corporal punishment. With the money saved from the NHS we could establish some decent sized armed forces, to assist our American allies in the policing of this dangerous world or ours.

Ron Ipstone from Conway 10:47:28 27 April 2007
Once again a judicial decision of the Special Immigration Tribunal leaves the government and all right thinking people exasperated. I refer to the case of the two suspected Muslim terrorist suspects, known to us only as DD and AS. Despite the fact that there is a strong chance that these two will attempt to blow the rest of us to smithereens, the Tribunal thinks it would be unspeakable to send them back to Libya, whence they came. It makes you very angry.

Steve Jenkins, let us know your 'new name' when you join the forums, and, yes, it IS complicated. I've been on it a few days and not much further forward. Good luck and looking forward to seeing you on 'the other side' hahaha

Steve Jenkins from Perth, Western Australia 02:08:15 27 April 2007
Greetings posters, looks like we're going to have to change our ID's (if I can work out the new system). Just a note to our ex-Scouse American friends, there are those of us who are not prepared to stay quiet when the Military-Industrial complex is chompng at the bit to take us all into a global conflict. The more guns and bombs, the more money and power for them. I regret any death or injury to servicemen and women but the US and its Bliar and Howard lackeys have stirred up an ants nest all through the Islamic world for which we and our children now all have to pay and will do for a long time to come. The sooner Bush goes the better for us all. By the way, can anyone tell me when they are going to have free elections in Saudi Arabia?

Echo letters 2007. Re an inconvenience. I agree. Manned Pcs and hidden cams might be the answer. When I visited Scotland in 1998.(Inverness and Forres) All the PCs were manned. At that time the price was 20p. Which you had to deposite into a slot before you could go through the gate. The PCs were, and hopefully still are. Absolutely spotless.

Time.Xt3 Christian forum. What's that supposed to mean IJreilly? If Xt is an abbreviation for exit although I have never seen a christian forum in the echo. But I could've missed it. However, you can forget about stamping out christianity mate. Or maybe I've got it completely wrong. Maybe you've become one. Wonders never cease ya know!

The NHS fixed my badly broken leg when I was seven...They saved my dads life after a motor bike crash (Fractured skull) They saved my youngest daughters life (Mennigococcal Septicaemia Meningitis)she is now an intensive care nurse in the same hospital. They fixed my heart problem and have treated my wife for years for a chronic complaint with compassion and dignity.I'm not being 'Tommy sad tales' this is over a lifetime and everyone I know owes this fabulous institution more than they can ever repay.lets not use the word 'criticism' here..instead say 'Improvement' or'Fine tuning'Our NHS is the envy of the whole world.Any politician who tries to harm it...go on..I dare you...in fact.....I double dare you!...Political suicide isn't it lads!Wouldn't the Yanks just love what we've got.

Tony from Crosby 22:53:27 26 April 2007
American states are more like independant countries..the union would not hold together unless they all had a certain amount of autonomy..I feel that some of the people in rural areas are not as street wise as say..people in New York. The slaughter of the Davidian sect in Waco in Texas need not have happened. I think the Farm Boys made a mess of it tragically..If it had been in Britain the police would have surrounded the place..turned the leccy off..sent a few takeaways in and waited for them to get bored with it all and come out quietly. Not so the Gung Ho! brigade. They attacked them with M4 tanks and automatic weapons. How did they expect them to react!America still has a lot to learn from us.'Alas poor patriotism..what vain atrocities are committed in thy name'.

Tony from Crosby 23:22:21 26 April 2007
'Am fillin' me boots' before this site is altered..here's a theory and a question....Is America just too big for comfort...is it past its critical mass? There is so much that is good in the States...they are a generous nation with a fabulous mix of cultures but at times seem like a headless chicken.Just look at their track record. How did Barry Goldwater..Vinegar Joe Mcarthy..Richard Nixon and George Bush Jnr get elected..there must be thousands of better people to put in those jobs.Do the people elect the politicians or does big business dictate and come along with the invoice afterwards. Are presidents still 'Pepsi Cola or Coca cola Presidents.Friends of ours from Boston tell us that they have no affinity whatever with people from Colorado...it's like a separate country.what do our American friends think?

Tony from Crosby 22:27:44 26 April 2007
Joe Kelsall...the beautiful name Charlotte...the name of both my grandmothers and my eldest sister....Joe ..how about garden peas.....I like peas ..don't you....we have some most nights but not always (Like John Major)sometimes on Sundays we have carrot and turnip as well but we never miss out on the peas they are a big part of our lives and I think you can safely say that as a family peas have brought us closer together. We talk to other people and it's suprising that most people like peas as much as we do.we think that they should be advertised more on TV so that others will be tempted to eat them. I'm suprised more postings dont mention them as much.I don't know what we'd do without peas.

Hello and Goodbye fellow boarders!! This is my LAST EVER post on this site and I shall miss it like crazy in spite of the problems I have had with a certain anti- American over the last year!! I hope all my friends will follow me onto the new site as I have already registered and posted messages!! Once again, thanks for the memories. CHEERS, Jeanette. (I just thought I would get the last CHEERS)!!

Jed Thomas from Liverpool 12:12:46 26 April 2007
I find it disheartening for a leading Council member, Cllr Turner (Post, April 25th) to dismiss someone as respected as Sir Sandy Bruce-Lockhart as a Tory from down south who doesn't know what he is talking about when discussing the issue of bins. It is equally strange when we consider that her fellow Liverpool councillor Richard Kemp is actually Sir Sandy's Deputy Chair! I thought the days of such childish politics was over but it seems not. On a more worrying note, this council seems to be happy to ignore the potential millions the current bin situation may cost the city without a second thought.

Tony from Crosby 11:51:20 26 April 2007
Loise Lacey..Louise we live in a capitalist society where supply and demand set prices. The flats lying empty and the prices they're asking are a Joke...I would however suggest to anybody thinking about it..to wait until the 'Capital of culture'thing runs its course before buying property...just watch the prices collapse when it's finished and people try to unload their 'Investment'...Who on earth would want to live in the Albert Dock anyway!....the whole place is one big museum..The interest in Liverpool will not be maintained to the same degree when '08' runs out. I love my City but have to use common sense...Without the 'real Jobs' for people to earn 'real wages' to spend in the shops...Liverpool City of Culture 'o8 will be a house of cards....and you know what they tend to do, don't you!

Tony from Crosby 11:23:05 26 April 2007
Charlotte...I'm the same when something changes..I had a video recorder when they first came out...years later I was getting to the stage when I could nearly (Not Quite)..set it to record programmes..and they stopped making them. Mobile Phones filter down to us as the kids get the latest model and I must admit I do have one...all I know what to do is to go into the shop with this credit card thing once a month..give the girl some money and say 'Ten pounds credit on my phone please'.I can make calls and take calls..and that's all I want to do.I'm not a Luddite but have an aversion to have to constantly 'Learn' new technology.....anyone else like me who feels that the mass of imformation on a mobile phone is mind boggling.Next time your on a bus or a train..just look out the window and think quietly about things....you might enjoy it.

charlotte from liverpool 10:03:31 26 April 2007
Hi, last message, hope to see everyone on the complicated (hahaha) forums. Enjoyed my time here. Charlotte (Lottie)

Jeanette Maslowski from Tucson, AZ 06:35:24 26 April 2007
To Mindy, Woolton. Who died and made you boss? I will criticize anything I deem necessary. This is an open forum, and we do have free speech. Why is it wrong for me to criticize the NHS, but not wrong for people on this site to criticize the US when they don't have all the facts, and have never lived here?

Jerry from Liverpool 23:08:34 25 April 2007
With the local elections looming. Are the candidates for the Everton Ward going to do any canvassing? Up to 24 Apr 07 I have had no door to door contact or even a leaflet. Or do they think we will just vote for a party !!! They must be misguided if they do! Please come round and persuade me to vote for you !

charlotte from liverpool 18:54:46 25 April 2007
