BESIAN IDRIZAJ came off the bench to score twice as Liverpool reserves recorded an impressive 2-0 win over an experienced Wigan Athletic side in the Barclays FA Premier Reserve League North at the Racecourse Ground last night.

The hosts were the more impressive of the two sides in the first half, and threatened to make the breakthrough on several occasions.

An inspired substitution after the break saw Besian Idrizaj score with his first touch after replacing Jordy Brouwer.

The Austrian had only been on the field a minute when he bundled the ball in from close range after Lindfield had headed Insua's free kick across goal.

Then 10 minutes later he found the net from close range again after Hobbs had headed the ball into his path.

Liverpool Res: Padelli, Darby, Insua, Hobbs, Huth, Spearing (Barnett 87), Anderson, Flynn, Lindfield, Brouwer (Idrizaj 68), El Zhar (Burns 81).
