Paul Cullen believes St Helens will reach another Challenge Cup final

Aug 7 2009

by John Lawless, Liverpool Echo

WIDNES Vikings coach Paul Cullen is predicting yet another Wembley appearance for St Helens as they prepare to take on Huddersfield Giants in Sunday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final.

Cullen, who has a secondary job as a TV analyst which sees him scrutinise every Super League game, said: ”People have said to me Huddersfield go into the game as slight favourites because of their form and the injury crisis we’ve seen going through the St Helens camp.

“But for me St Helens go into the game as clear favourites, simply because they’ve got big game players who have been in this situation so many times it’s not funny.

“They know how to raise their game.

“The fact Saints have got a few injuries is not a concern for me as an outsider.

“I think they’ve got players who can bring their best game and win a one-off match.”

Cullen takes his Widnes side to Featherstone Rovers in The Co-operative Championship on Sunday.
