IT’S good to see the Rugby League World Cup is coming back to this country in 2013.
The last one held here in 2000 lost a lot of money because the games were taken to grounds all over the place that were always going to be difficult to fill.
This time it looks like the games are going to be held in the game’s heartlands in the north of England. That has to be a sensible decision and I see no reason we can’t make a success of it.
Let’s just hope England can put up a better showing than they did in Australia last year.
THE two points Saints picked up against Wigan on Friday night could prove crucial in deciding who finishes top of the engage Super League table.
It probably looked even more important the following night when Leeds snatched the points against Warrington through Kevin Sinfield’s conversion with the last kick of the game.
Ours was an incredibly tight match at Knowsley Road and the wet conditions meant it was always likely to come down to which side took their chances.
That’s when your real gamebreakers come to the fore.
We’ve been fortunate at Saints in recent years in having a number of players who can come up with the big play when it’s really needed.
It looks like Kyle Eastmond is another of those players.
His try close to full-time gave us a 10-6 win and will have sent the Saints supporters happy. It’s going to be a tight finish.
