ST HELENS, who are aiming to lift the Carnegie Challenge Cup for a fourth successive year, have a host of injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s semi-final with Huddersfield Giants.
Among them is skipper Keiron Cunningham, who is hoping to overcome a knee injury.
But in contrast Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown is facing a selection dilemma for their clash with the holders with virtually a full-strength squad to choose from.
The Giants emerged injury-free from last Friday’s 24-0 Super League win at Hull and, although former Wigan prop Danny Sculthorpe is cup-tied, Brown is able to recall forwards Eorl Crabtree, Darrell Griffin and Stephen Wild after resting them for the trip to the KC Stadium.
Huddersfield are also boosted by the return of former New Zealand Test centre Paul Whatuira, who has missed the last two matches with a calf injury, leaving only back rower Andy Raleigh (Achilles) on the casualty list.
