Rugby League: Widnes wary of revenge seeking Halifax

WIDNES will be wary of a revenge-seeking Halifax side in tonight's Co-Operative Championship clash at Stobart Stadium Halton (kick-off 7.30pm).
When the two teams last met in June's Northern Rail Cup semi-final at The Shay, it was the Vikings who emerged victorious with a 27-22 victory over the competition favourites.
Widnes assistant-coach Stuart Wilkinson said: “Rumours have it they (Halifax) talk about us a lot.
“That says that if you can get on top of them it should give you an advantage when it comes to the play-offs. They seem a bit distracted by us.”
Since their victory over Halifax and their heroics in winning the Northern Rail Cup final against Barrow, the Vikings performances have dropped in intensity.
An away defeat at second bottom Gateshead Thunder was followed by a 32-24 comeback win against a less than convincing Toulouse Olympique side in south-west France last Saturday.
Wilkinson is aware of the need for the Vikings to up their game against the league leaders.
He added: “They're a very good side and have dangerous players right across the park.
