WARRINGTON coach Tony Smith saluted his side after a breathtaking second-half performance saw the Wolves run in 50 points without reply to seal a brilliant engage Super League victory over Salford.
The Wolves trailed 20-12 at half-time but ran in nine tries after the break to blitz the Reds with their biggest win under boss Tony Smith.
Lee Briers starred for Warrington, bagging two touchdowns and setting up several other scores.
Smith said: “It was the old classic of two halves. We started positively and blew a few chances.
“We made some errors in the first half but then got smart and played some very attractive rugby.
“The players wanted to change the rhythm of the game at half-time and be steadier.
“Lee Briers had some good touches but the forwards paved the way. Garreth Carvell was tremendous and Ben Westwood was outstanding.”
The only blow for Warrington was a suspected broken leg suffered by Paul Wood.
“He will be going for X-rays and it doesn’t look good,” admitted Smith.
Bemused Reds boss Shaun McRae, whose side have now lost seven of their last eight games, blasted: “In all my coaching career I’ve never seen such a turnaround in 40 minutes.
“Explanations and excuses will be given but at the end of the day we just folded and it was disgraceful.
“It was one of the worst performances I have seen by any side in 40 minutes.
“It probably ranks as the number one in my coaching career. We went from A grade to Z grade.”
