CALDY rolled back the years as Matt Holt and Stuart Turner came off the bench in the last 10 minutes to help them secure a 41-29 victory at Hull RUFC to move up into second place the National League Three North.
The game was littered with penalties but Caldy held their nerve to put pressure on leaders Loughborough Students with a gritty team performance. Paul Arnold scored his 10th try of the season and Richard Vasey had an excellent day with the boot scoring 21 points.
The game started well for Caldy as they went 13-0 in front within the first 15 minutes. Hull hit back to make it 13-8.
But on 53 minutes Arnold powered over the line following excellent work by Craig Smithson, Vasey was unable to convert the try. Vasey kicked another penalty but again Hull came back to narrow the score to 27-24. The game was even balanced but on 75 minutes Holt and Turner replaced Woods and Dowridgeto help Caldy win 41-29.
