TWO bonus points for four tries and restricting Rossendale to a six point margin was disappointing reward for a determined Park side.
It was the hard work and solid approach of the visitors that finally won the day despite the home side showing a lot of enterprise and useful handling.
The Merseysiders went into an early lead when Neil Hull went in at the corner for Craig Orrick to convert. A reply came from the visitors with a penalty before they took advantage of Park’s Rob Hanson and Ian Critchley going to the sin bin.
Veteran Neil Ryan then left the fray with a calf injury before a penalty try edged the visitors further ahead.Park narrowed the margin when Warren Hunt scampered over but Dejager replied with another kick with the interval approaching.
Playing into a strong wind Park opened the second period impressively with Mark Williams scoring. Dale increased their lead with a penalty for a high tackle before flanker Cameron Thompson sprinted clear for a decisive try. There were several misfortunes for the home side in the closing stages before Stephen Briers with a last minute touchdown at least rescued another bonus point.
