’WORK in progress’ was the general consensus after Waterloo went down 30-17 at Westoe on Saturday.
There is no doubt that the Merseyside club are playing better than their results suggest but winning is about confidence and the feeling is that once they can get a few wins under their belt they can still turn their season round and move to a more respectable position.
They could also do with a dose of luck as team manager Dave Crank intimated after Saturday’s game.
He said: “The game was dominated by the weather and we were up against it in the first half.
“Unfortunately for us the conditions eased in the second half, making it much easier for the opposition.”
Although disappointed at the loss Crank was more inclined to take the positives out of the team performance.
“It is always a disappointment to lose but despite going behind on two occasions we kept our heads up and were still battling at the end,” he said. “To be pulled back for a marginal forward pass and for them to score from the resulting scrum was perhaps a little harsh.”
“We are playing better but we could just do with that bit more luck.”
This Saturday Waterloo are at home to Harrogate in National two North, kick-off 3pm and admission is free.
