West Park’s top man Rob Briers steps down

Nov 1 2007

by Ron Roby, Liverpool Daily Post

FORMER North of England winger Rob Briers has resigned as chief executive and chairman of National 3 North West Park.

Rob Briers, 56, has been at the club since he was 18 and has sat on various committees for more than 15 years.

At present he is also Lancashire’s representative on the RFU Council down at Twickenham and Chairman of the Competitions Committee as well as retaining office with Lancashire as Executive Chairman of Rugby in addition to being involved in the Rugby Development partnership.

Briers said: “With the game developing as it has done in the professional age the pressures have increased considerably.

“So many decisions have to be made at club level to enable us to move forward that I feel I cannot do the club or myself justice because I cannot be there enough of the time.”

Rob Briers will not be leaving the Club but hopes to continue to give them his loyal support whenever he can.
