But any pleasure the club's officials feel at having county cricket at Aigburth is clearly more than reciprocated at Old Trafford.
"We are always delighted to go to Liverpool," said Lancashire's chief executive Jim Cumbes.
"It is by far the oldest of our current outgrounds, the pitch is good, the pavilion superb and playing there is one way of promoting cricket on Merseyside and that's very important to us."
Nor did Cumbes' tribute to Liverpool lack historical aware-ness. He said: "Don Bradman enjoyed playing at the ground and if it's good enough for him, it's fine by us.
"We have had some good games at Aigburth and we're looking forward to another one in June now that we are back in the First Division of the Liverpool Victoria County Champion-ship. Hopefully, Merseyside's public will turn out in force to watch us."
Nonetheless, behind the prestige which is rightly associated with hosting county cricket lie tough commercial realities and some of McEvoy's time is currently spent in securing sponsors for June's fixture.
"The staging fees Lancashire charge do go up," he said.. "And although Jaguar have been very supportive of Liverpool Cricket Club for these games in the past, we are now looking for new sponsors and there are also a variety of corporate hospitality packages available."
